SPORTS NUTRITION YOU CAN TRUST
The quality and efficacy of Be-Well products has lead to vast media acclaim including articles such as Nutrition you can trust’, Athletics Weekly, May 7th 2004
There has been great controversy in recent years over the use of supplements. Tests by the International Olympic Committee showed, for example, that 18.9% of supplements sold in the U.K. would result in a positive drugs test.
The Be-Well product range has been developed with the specific needs of athletes in mind, avoiding any ingredients that could lead to a positive drugs test. Even the use of herbs is avoided because the technical team believe herbs occasionally contain unwanted substances.
The growing list of athletes that now turn to Be-Well for supplements include world marathon record holder Paula Radcliffe Olympic Heptathlon Champion Denise Lewis, Irish distance runner Sonia O’Sullivan, Olympic 5000m finalist Jo Pavey, middle distance man John Mayock, European junior cross county champion Charlotte Dale and U.K. javelin record holder Kelly Morgan. Other Be-Well users include World Cup winning rugby captain Martin Johnson, swimmer Adrian Turner and adventurer Sir Ranulph Fiennes.
In 2003 Be-Well also became the official nutrition partner of the Athletics Coaches Association of the U.K. Mike Winch, Chief England Coach to the highly successful 2002 Commonwealth Games team and founder of the ACAUK has made the following comments on the partnership :
“THE ACAUK IS EAGER TO PROMOTE GOOD NUTRITIONAL ADVICE AMONGST ITS MEMBERS AND THEIR ATHLETES, PARTICULARLY AFTER THE RECENT MAJOR PROBLEMS THE SPORT HAS EXPERIENCED WITH SUPPLEMENTATION.
THE EXCELLENT TRACK RECORD OF BE-WELL NUTRITIONAL PRODUCTS BOTH IN PRODUCTION AND USAGE WITHIN SPORT HAVE MARKED THEM AS BEING CONCERNED WITH THE WELL BEING OF THE SPORTSMEN AND WOMEN THE PRODUCTS ARE DESIGNED TO HELP.
COACHES AND THEIR ATHLETES CAN BE ASSURED THAT THESE PRODUCTS ARE BASED ON EXPERT RESEARCH INTO THE NEEDS OF ATHLETES, AND WITHOUT THE WORRY OF THE IMPURITIES THAT HAVE DOGGED OTHER PRODUCTS; THEY CAN BE USED WITH CONFIDENCE TO ASSIST IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE.
THE ACAUK IS DELIGHTED TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH BE-WELL NUTRITIONAL PRODUCTS, AND LOOK FORWARD TO A LONG AND FRUITFUL RELATIONSHIP.”
Be-Well believe that most athletes using supplements are neglecting their basic nutritional requirements in favour of ‘designer products’. The flagship product in the range is B.active, a multi-nutrient formulation containing a host of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and other nutrients (30 servings /1 month supply £19.95) aimed at building a sound nutritional foundation and supporting the immune system, which is so often impaired by hard training and competition. A compromised immune system does not necessarily mean you look or feel ill, but can be compared to a car running on 3 cylinders – it will still function but will not perform to its maximum potential. Classic signs of impaired immune function include loss of continuity in training, slower recovery after exercise and generally feeling run down. B.active contains a unique form of vitamins and minerals called ‘Food State’ nutrients. Brian Welsby ‘The body recognizes nutrients as part of a food structure, for example vitamin C in an orange. If you take the other food components away from the vitamin you will have a nutrient which will have limited bioavailability. If you took the alternator, distributor and spark plugs away from a car engine would it still work?’ The nutrients in B.active are linked to a natural food matrix e.g. vitamin C is bonded with citrus pulp, which Be-Well believe have a greater absorbency rate within the body.
The other products in the Be-Well range have been formulated in conjunction with elite athletes across a range of sports. These include, B.load, a carbo-loader designed to replenish and build up energy stores. Bfuel, for maintenance of energy and hydration levels during training and competition B.gain, a high protein formulation to speed up muscle tissue growth and recovery and B.flex, a formulation to support the repair of joint and connective tissue damage resulting from sports injuries.
